Acclaimed for his work in Greater Nepal, Manoj Pandit has been an ace believer in the form of cinema as something propelling change. He has been jailed, batoned, caught by the border security forces in India all of which while he becomes a filmmaker. Here is a letter written to us where he describes the driving force on the basis of which he does what he does.
"Nepal only realized film as a commercial asset, completely forgetting the fact that film before having a market is born out of some ones vision, and that vision has more to do with his/her expression which is based on a personal statement leading towards its nature called art"
Chaukathi 'Threshold' is the first film by a Nepali director to be screened in the 'Short Film Corner' of the 'Non-competitive category' at the 'Cannes Film Festival. Selected in the 2009 event, Chaukathi has been an important segment in this years Nepali cinema. Here is Deepak talking of his journey to the film.
